What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement & Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy that is efficacious and considered to be evidence based practice (SAHMSA, WHO).
EMDR Therapy is an 8 phased treatment that is effective for the treatment of trauma in infants to adults. The phases include standardized protocols that incorporate best practices from many different treatment approaches.
To date, EMDR therapy has been taught and used in more than 70 countries around the world and helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.

Sessions
While our standard face-to-face sessions default to around 1-hour, some clients have found it more useful have an adjusted schedule. For example to have longer sessions that occur less often.
Talk with your therapist about your specific scheduling needs and goals for counseling. Your therapist will help you develop a schedule that will work best for your specific needs.
Standard face-to-face sessions are 45-55 min

Insurance
Please be aware that therapists at Tapia Counseling and Psychological Services, LLC do not accept insurance payments. If you have any “out-of-network benefits” for counseling, your sessions may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan, depending on your policy.
Upon your request, your receipt will include the codes and information required by insurance companies for reimbursement of out-of-network therapy services. It is your responsibility to submit your receipts and obtain any reimbursement from your insurance company. Also, we are not a provider for Medicaid or Medicare.

What does my Insurance cover?
Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
It is your responsibility to handle any and all insurance issues directly with your insurance company.
Do I have mental health benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
Do I have a different out of network deductible?
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Does my plan cover couples and family therapy? Or does it ONLY cover individual therapy?

Cancellations
If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, or you have not notified us that you are cancelling your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session you scheduled.

Payment for services are due at the time of service. We accept – Check, Cash or Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover).
